From sweeping deserts to jewelled seas, Australia boasts some of the most beautiful places in the world. But can you guess which 10 places ranked as the most popular places on Instagram this year?

Yesterday, Facebook released Australia’s Top 10 places on Instagram, and here they are from top to bottom.

1. The Sydney Opera House

Hailed as one of the world’s most distinctive performance venues, the Opera House was opened in 1973. Designed by Jørn Utzon, it remains Australia’s most iconic landmark.

2. Darling Harbour 

Sydney’s playground, Darling Harbour plays host to parks, Harbourside Shopping Centre and Cocklebay Wharf – the only stop you need for a family day out.

3. Sydney Harbour Bridge
