Vivid has become one of Sydney’s most anticipated events, drawing visitors in from all over the world in a colourful display of light, sound and ideas.

While the Opera House Sails are lit up every year along with the Harbour Bridge, we take a look at a few of this year’s installations that have become crowd favourites.

1. Streets Ahead – Central Park  Central Park Sydney has become renowned for being one of the tallest and most ecologically sustainable buildings in the world. This year it is one of Vivid’s most exciting features, consisting of a light show that displays some of Sydney’s best contemporary artworks.

2. Internal Galaxy – Hickson Road Reserve, the Rocks This installation challenges perceptions of light and space using mirrors and LEDs to create a brilliantly contained kaleidoscope.

3. Arclight – Hickson Road Reserve, the Rocks These environmentally friendly light sculptures pick up on wind speed and temperatures, creating unique and environmentally sensitive patterns via LEDs.

4. Light Origami – Alfred St, Circular Quay This installation is made of over 320 unique origami shapes in perspex, with changing coloured lights flooding the dome.
